Elliptical Sentences yaitu Kalimat yang diringkas dan pengertiannya sama dengan kalimat utama atau kalimat induk.
Contoh:
1. She likes listening to music. Kalimat Pertama
2. I like listening to music. Kalimat Kedua
Diringkas menjadi:
She likes listening to music (Kalimat induk) and so do I (Elliptical)
Dia suka mendengarkan musik dan saya juga.
BENTUK-BENTUK ”ELLIPTICAL SENTENCES”
1. Jika Kalimat Induk Positif (+):
- Menggunakan So
So + Auxulury Verb + Subject Kalimat 2. Ex: So do I
- Menggunakan Too
Subject kalimat 2 + Auxulury Verb + too. Ex: I do too.
2. Jika Kalimat Induk Negatif (-):
- Neither:
neither + Aux. Verb + Subject Kalimat 2
- Either:
Subject Kalimat 2 + Aux. Verb + not + either
